The Hope Store
by Dwight Okita
Installing Hope!
Imagine a world without hope. No matter what you do, you cannot find hope within yourself. Two men, entrepreneurs, create a solution that can only be found at the Hope Store – they install hope, not instill it!
Jada, a friend of one of the men purchases an installment of hope and the complications begin! As a “super-responder” with a hidden agenda, Jada complicates things a bit for the two owners. Factor in a secret or two the owners have, the activist group “The Natural Hopers”, and the plot thickens.
This was an enjoyable book except for the music – but then again, I despise having music played during an audiobook as it tends to interfere with the words being spoken and my taste in music is not commonly connected to audiobooks. The music was, however, very appropriate for the storyline.
The book is unique and raises many different issues, which is what makes a book interesting and good! A few of the issues include is installing hope into a person playing God? Is this ethical? What is the value of friendship and relationships? Can a secret or a lie be undone? There are many other issues that this book could provoke for good and enriching discussions.
The character development and plot twists were interesting and complete. The story is well told, the dialog is stimulating, and the narration performance given by the author Dwight Okita was well done. It was a soothing book highlighted by his rich voice.
There were no issues with the production or quality of this audiobook.
