Infinite2

by Jeremy Robinson

Narrated by: R.C. Bray

Never Ending Reality Search!

Infinite is the continuation of William Chanokh who boarded a spaceship called the Galahad and whose trajectory is … nowhere. Unable to die and confused by reality, Chanokh enters “The Great Escape” with his virtual AI named Gal. There he lives many lives and explores many worlds. The other woman who acts as a catalyst in the relationship between Gal and Chanokh is human and is in a deep cryo-sleep. Her name is Capria and she is designated to be Chanokh’s human mate if and when they arrive anywhere.

The adventure continues with Gal experiencing some glitches, Chanokh having memory loss and reality is on vacation! Trying to exit the virtual reality to figure out and fix Gal, Chanokh finds he may never truly be free from the Great Escape. His experience reminds me of being in a coma-like sleep filled with nightmares and never waking up. It’s already daunting to know he will never leave the spaceship but to encounter a vicious and deadly AI whom he loves and knows him too well … as well as other monsters … scary!

The characters are fully developed but with a few twists that give the listener a different perspective. The story is a story within a story within a story – in other words, each life Chanokh lives, the listener makes that trip with him. Each world is detailed and the author’s, Jeremy Robinson, world-building is put to the test as we experience several, each one more twisted than before. Robinson presents the listener with the same feeling the character Chanokh must be experiencing – loss, confusion, and a determination to figure out what is going on.

R.C. Bray, the narrator, again gives an excellent and strong performance. His voice is steady and consistent throughout the book. His subtle hints that people are not who they are with a slightly different sound or emotion is nicely done.

There were no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook. It was crisp and clear.
