This audiobook tells the story of Maurice Chandler from childhood until now. He details his successes and failures as well as his hopes and dreams. This is his story told from his perspective.

The author, Maurice Chandler, explores his life, detailing both the obstacles beyond his control and those he created himself. He tells his story compellingly, taking the listener on an emotional journey filled with humor, sorrow, and hope. He constructively acknowledges both societal failures and his own.

As the narrator, Maurice Chandler speaks from the heart but not as emotionally charged as one would expect. He maintains a steady tone no matter the issue he is addressing. He narrates the audiobook as if he is having a one-sided conversation with the listener, giving it a more authentic feel. With this being said, the audiobook would have benefited from a professional narrator who is skilled at using tonal inflections, and cadence, and highlighting key actions that are important to the narrative.

I felt a connection to this audiobook that brought to mind many of my memories and emotions from this period and witnessed some of the same societal failures expressed by Maurice Chandler. This is an autobiography everyone should hear.
