Epic Action-Filled Adventure!

Elysia Dayne had a simple life yet full of love until her best friend (a dragon) destroyed all that she loved. Wearing many mantles including dragon slayer, Elysia is charged with rescuing Princess Isabella Solemaine. Their journey is fraught with many obstacles including their dislike for one another. Raised with different beliefs and experiences the two women eventually forge a strong bond. Faced with danger and the wilds of the wilderness, the two must trust one another.

The author, Wil Chan weaves a complicated story with rich characters. Epic in length, Chan takes his time building the story, weaving plot twists, and building the characters. Chan’s writing style is very detailed and descriptive. While this is usually a plus, it sometimes felt a bit much. The plot twists were well done and fit within the story for the most part. The length of the book at times made it difficult to follow.

The narrator, Rhonda Pownall did a great job of narrating and keeping the book moving at a steady pace. Pownall’s unique voices kept the story fairly easy to follow. This book is quick to take the listener through many highs and lows emotionally. Pownall projected the emotions and essences of each character well.

This is an interesting and emotionally charged fantasy book with interesting characters!
