Intriguing Mystery!

This tale is set during a time before Confucius and when fashion and silk demonstrated wealth. Fahng was sold to a master Weaver in China where she is required to solve an ancient language found in a sampler of knots. This language and craft allow her and other women to survive in their male-dominated world.

The author L. J. Schulz crafts an intriguing mystery, ultimately solved by Fahng and the sisterhood of weavers through their understanding of ancient knot language, patterns, and magical powers. The narrative is enriched with poetry and songs, woven into the weavers' work songs and dances, creating an engaging combination. However, the repeated 'XO' patterns were difficult to follow and appeared too often. The characters were well-developed, and the plot twists were smooth and engaging. The historical aspect of this novel has been well-researched.

As the narrator, L. J. Schulz skillfully gave voice to each character, articulating the story clearly and capturing each character’s essence. Despite the repetitive 'X' and 'O' patterns, which occasionally made the narrative hard to follow, this book is highly enjoyable.
