Jodie Cowan-Moskios, the author creates a complex story that captivates the listener’s imagination providing hours of horror and suspense! While complex, the storyline is easy to follow given the writing style and format. The different pieces of this story seem to be opposites but in reality, are intrinsically connected. The characters are rich and well-developed. Each plot twist is carefully planned and executed. The Undertoads is also a poignant story as it deals with grief and loss. It is done in a tasteful way exploring the impact on each character.
The narrator, Michael Mola gives a performance that brings the story to life and keeps the story flowing smoothly and clearly. His voices were uniquely different making the characters easy to follow. He projects fear, confusion, horror, and pain for each character. He brought the story to life.
This is not your usual horror book, but rather one that lingers in the back of your mind for days to come. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to more by Cowan-Moskios.
This book was awarded the Audiobook Reviewer’s Choice Award as it was believed to deserve a higher rating than the standard five-star ranking system. Between the author and narrator, this book was highly entertaining.
