THE SHAKESPEARE CONSPIRACY

by Ted Bacino

Narrated by: Ian Fisher

Production by: Bacino & Associates

Review by W.D. Douglass

Romance!

The Shakespeare Conspiracy was written by Ted Bacino and narrated by Ian Fisher. This story's title and synopsis are severely misleading. Going into the listen I thought the book would focus around the conspiracy aspect. Unfortunately, this tale is more about what two people in love will do to stay together than it is about bringing to light the true author of so many notable plays. It boils down to a melding of conspiracy and historical facts that are merely what this romantic narrative has been forged around. I am not an avid romance listener. Therefore, I would not suggest this listen to anyone who likes to listen to conspiracy-based audiobooks.

Ian Fisher as the narrator does not bring much to this story either. He failed to bring any life or distinction to the cast of characters in this audiobook. Along with that, anytime he would yell, it would cause audio distortions. Seems like he should turn down his gain settings when recording more intense moments.

Editing, quality, and production were on par with most books I have listened to.  It was clear, no issue with sound or quality. Aside from one issue which I sited previously. The narrator's yelling would cause audio distortions.
