Adventure, Trust, Wisdom and More!
Orah and Nathaniel continue their truth-seeking after discovering the Keep and revealing the truth about the darkness to the folks in their small piece of the world. Now they are bound for the other side of the ocean to discover more and meet with the descendants of the Keep. Much like the home they left, there is a divide between the Greenies and the Machinists. Caught between two nearly warring factions, Orah and Nathaniel must bring them together and help bring forward movement there so they may increase awareness at home. Will they be enough to bring peace so they may continue to spread knowledge, truth, and hope?
David Litwack, the author, has cleverly built a world where truth is twisted and hidden. Amongst the people of this world trust is almost non-existent as well. Litwack consistently builds the premise that trust, and truth are achievable but at a cost. That cost, for some, is greater than for others. Litwack puts on display all of our human fallacies dealing with truth, trust, and even hope. He captures our fears and reactions vividly.
The narrator, Erin deWard gives a solid performance interjecting the right amount of emotion and inflection. Her delivery and timing are smooth. It is almost as if she has stepped into the story; the words flow seamlessly.
This is book two in a three-book series, I have the third one to hear shortly and I am looking forward to it. I am eager to see how successful Orah and Nathaniel are and what trouble Thomas, their childhood friend that remained behind finds himself.
This is an interesting series and one that will leave you pondering. Your mind will dwell on the meaning of truth, where it is and the differences between people. This is a great series – a definite listen!
