Firefighting Action and Adventure!
Smokejumper Saga is an action-packed novel set in the 1970s. Heather, as a four-year old girl who saw fire take her older brother, and Jack who has a familial tradition of firefighting, were bound to cross paths someday. Together they fight to become the best smokejumpers and US Forest Service firefighters they can be while discovering their growing relationship. Adversity comes in the form of fires, injuries, and the belief that women are better suited in the kitchen.
John Crues, the author, creates characters with depth and originality. The dialog and situations are realistic and keep the flow of the story moving at a steady pace. Each character, including the secondary ones, furthered the story highlighting between men and women, the fears of basically nosediving straight into a deadly situation, and more.
The narrator, also John Crues did a good job of narration. His cadence, clarity of speech, and voices only served to enhance the story.
This is one of those books that you don’t put down until the end. There were characters in this story that I could easily relate to as I too grew up in the 1970s. The feeling of women in men’s jobs was accurately portrayed by the author both in his writing and in his performance. An action-packed adventure for sure!
There were no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook. The sound was clear and well done.
