ICE Trilogy

ICE
Book 1

Out of this World Mystery!

Leah Andrews is a renowned Archaeologist on a mission to discover the mystery of a tribe of Native American Indians that lived in a cliff dwelling in the southwestern area of New Mexico which just happens to be on government property.  What she discovers there requires her to reach out to her estranged husband, Jack Hobson.  His connections and expertise of the Antarctic territory are exactly what Leah needs to solve the mystery.  Hobson brings in experts and finds a financer which adds another twist to their mission – recovering an antique plane on Russian-claimed territory!  Each word keeps the listener on the edge of their seat!

Kevin Tinto, the author, builds the story slowly but powerfully starting with the deadly climb up and down Mount Everest and ending with the team making a discovery that is out of this world!  Each step of this book is well-written and realistic especially the “governmental red tape” and politics in the storyline.  Tinto is methodical as he moves Leah and her team through every step of their exploration and discovery.

Tinto takes time to build each character and ties them to the storyline perfectly.  One cannot help but root for Leah and Jack. Ice is vividly written, with strong characters, and the listener cannot help but be disappointed when they hear the “we hope you have enjoyed this audible production”.  I look forward to the next book in this trilogy!

Pamela Almand, the narrator, provides an excellent performance.  Almand moves the story along with the right amount of emotion and enthusiasm.  Her cadence is smooth and easy to listen to.  I found Almand gave each character the right tone which reflected each character's personality.  Almand immersed not only herself into the story but she brought the listener in as well.  This is the first time I heard Pamela Almand perform and I loved it!

ICE Genesis!
Book 2

An Intense Thriller with Americans, Russians, and Nuclear Devices!

Jack Hobson, Dr. Leah Andrews, and others from the first ICE book survive the President’s attempt to eliminate them via a nuclear device.  In their escape, Jack and Leah take their recently discovered ancients back to their original home.  To keep everyone safe, Jack and Leah have hidden a nuclear device in New Mexico and Jack Paulson is neck-deep in politics to keep everyone safe.  The Lakota Shaman, Appanoose, has an agenda on his mind and it takes everything Leah has to figure it out and make the right decision.  Meanwhile, the Russians and Americans are on the verge of war and the Navy Seal survivors are trying to continue surviving.

The author, Kevin Tinto, gives his listeners a thrill a minute with this second book in the trilogy series.   There is continuity with the characters he developed in book one that continued over to book two.  Again, the dialog is solid and realistic.  The political games being played are told convincingly and with an authentic feel to them.  Tinto knows how to engage his listeners and keep them listening!  I do have to say, the ending brought tears to my eyes.

The narrator, Pamela Almand is excellent!  She slips on each character as if they were a part of her, she gives each one a unique yet solid voice.  This was a book that I was surprised she did so well; she had to pronounce words from three different languages - Lakota, Russian, and one other.  She did an excellent job of pronouncing them and still maintaining the cadence of her performance.  Between Tinto’s superb writing skills and Pamela Almand’s outstanding performance, this is a book to hear!

ICE REVELATION
Book 3

Politics, Extraterrestrials, Russians, and More!!

Leah Andrews is a strong and determined woman.  To prevent the ever-increasing power and destructive ability of the Anomaly, that would cause a planet-wide extinction she tries to return the Ancients to the Antarctic Continent.  If that was all Leah had to contend with that would be great, but she has others competing to recover the hidden treasures and the power of the Anomaly.  Meanwhile, Jack Hobson must get creative in to reach the Antarctic Continent and save Leah.  This is an exciting ending to the ICE trilogy!

Kevin Tinto, the author, continues to build the suspense and storyline expertly with equally strong plot twists throughout the series and does not disappoint with this book.  The ending was not what I expected at all!  His already strong character development continues throughout this book.

Pamela Almand's performance is equally outstanding.  Not only do the words from another language roll off her tongue but she maintains a unique voice for each character.  The tempo of her performance is solid and measured making listening to her a pleasant experience.

I thoroughly enjoyed this series and look forward to more performances by Kevin Tinto and Pamela Almand.
