There is an urge inside you....
Dr. Gary Phillips, the resident hematopathologist at Claybrook Medical Center, is a lonely man struggling with the duress of an all-work and no-play lifestyle.
Burdened with an unhealthy infatuation with his co-worker, a burning disdain for his boss, and an abusive relationship with his grandfather, Gary just can't catch a break.
That is, until a workplace accident ushers in a bizarre but empowering experience that evokes a new sense of self, forcing repressed memories to surface while encouraging him to pursue his fantasies with unconventional methods.

Siphon was written by A. A. Medina. The narration is provided by Ted Brooks. This audiobook has a running of 2 hours and 59 minutes. In that time the listener will meet Dr. Gary Phillips, the resident hematopathologist at Claybrook Medical Center. Gary is just a sad sack of a man.
He is lonely and extremely obsessed with Wendy one of the phlebotomists at work to the point of Facebook stalking her and keeps a library of her ‘best photos’ on his phone. He hates his boss the youngest hospital trustee. Gary lives with his abusive Grandfather who raised him after his parent’s death. Gary’s world takes a change one day when he drops two lab samples on the floor and sees the blood and hears the voice saying “There is an urge inside of you…”
Siphon does an average job of holding the listener’s attention. There are some parts that take an unexpected turn that make the story interesting but overall the story does start to become somewhat predictable once Gary begins to hear the voice inside. The mystery about his parent’s death is fun to hear along with some the just gross-out parts of the story as Gary goes on exploring this new facet of his life. For some, this will be interesting. Their fact he had a horrible childhood, his social life is non-existent, and his boss is a tyrant may you want to cheer him on initially but after hearing the story through I was just sort of meh.
The narration by Ted Brooks was enjoyable. This is the first performance that I have heard from Mr. Brooks. He did a good job with the characters in this audio performance. His differing voices helped to elevate the story and make the audiobook more enjoyable.
The production quality of this audiobook is also the highest quality. I heard no problems during the entire performance. There were not any detectable flaws that I was able to hear during the entire performance such as loops, breaks, or buzzing. The production was crisp and clear. Hindered Souls Press delivered an excellent audiobook production.
