"Your mission is to build an organization capable of dealing with men…Men who think they are above the law. Men who sow hatred and pain wherever they walk. Men who are evil."
That's the call to arms for Vance, Ice, Mitch, and Bishop, a team of highly trained operatives who've gone rogue and formed PRIMAL, a global vigilante unit. They protect the innocent, punish the guilty, and wage war against terrorism, all in the name of justice. Their first target: the wealthy CEO of a powerful corporation—and a die-hard jihadist supporter—scheming to exterminate Western influence in the United Arab Emirates. Our four warriors challenge his murderous ambitions, turning the dark arts of clandestine ops against a seemingly untouchable evil. Success gives them access to new resources and new targets, and within a matter of days they've brought a Russian mafia cartel to its knees.
Middle Eastern warmongers, insipid Russian mobsters, and all those who prey on the weak and helpless can rest assured: justice comes with a dose of fury when it's delivered by PRIMAL.

I didn’t really know what to expect with Primal Origin, I had heard a little about the Primal books but knew nothing about the origins, other than it being a novella. I decided it would be a great place to start the series and see if it held my interest enough to get the first full-length book, so when I saw it was available for review I thought that now was a great time to jump into it.
The CIA are working undercover to prevent terror attacks when they find out that they are the next target, rather than pack up and go home, two members of the team decide to find out what is going on and put an end to the attacks. Through this they are approached to set up a team that would fly under the radar, no government controlling them, all they have to do is rid the world of the ’bad guys’ with an unlimited budget, that was an offer they couldn’t refuse. We join Vance & Ice as they set up their ‘PRIMAL’ team and embark on their first mission. I liked the characters, I thought they were written really well and that the author did a fantastic job of setting the scene in his descriptions, it is fast-paced and kept my attention throughout. Overall I think the origin did its job, it has whet my appetite enough to make me want to read more of the series.
I have only ever listened to one audio book by Dick Hill, so I don’t really have much to compare it to, I thought he did a good job with it, the narration was clear and entertaining, I could follow which character was which with no difficulty at all and I even had a few laugh out loud moments, which was more due to Dick Hill’s narration than the writing. It is not a long audio book, easily listened to in a day. I found that I enjoyed the narration more on the second listen than I did originally, whether that was because it took a while to get used to the narration or because I gave it more attention, I’m not sure. Overall I enjoyed the audio book and would recommend it to anyone that enjoys military thrillers.
