In modern America, two soldiers will fight their way through the magical legacies of Poe and Hawthorne to destroy an undying evil―if they don't kill each other first.
US Army Captain Dale Morton is a magician soldier―a "craftsman." After a black-ops mission gone wrong, Dale is cursed by a Persian sorcerer and haunted by his good and evil ancestors. Major Michael Endicott, a Puritan craftsman, finds gruesome evidence that the evil Mortons, formerly led by the twins Roderick and Madeline, have returned, and that Dale might be one of them.
Dale uncovers treason in the Pentagon's highest covert ranks. He hunts for his enemies before they can murder him and Scherie, a new friend who knows nothing of his magic.
Endicott pursues Dale, divided between his duty to capture a rogue soldier and his desire to protect Dale from his would-be assassins. They will discover that the demonic horrors that have corrupted American magic are not bound by family or even death itself.
In Tom Doyle's thrilling debut, American Craftsmen, Seal Team Six meets ancient magic--with the fate of the United States hanging in the balance...

American Craftsman Book 1 written by Tom Doyle. The audiobook is from GraphicAudio and adapted and directed by Ken Jackson. Narrated by Ken Jackson and Terence Aselford. Featuring Ken Jackson as Dale Morton, Michael John Casey as Michael Endicott, and Nora Achrati as Scherazade Rezvani. These are just the three main characters. From this reviewers experience Graphic Audio uses a large and fantastic cast of narrators on their audio project. I am also going to mention again the Dialogue and Sound Design on this production Mackubin Owens doing both jobs and Justin Wortz doing Sound Design as well. The Dialogue Editing with the Sound Design is really what sets a GraphicAudio performance apart from a standard audiobook. The author has created a unique parallel world that mirrors our own. The story is a really great mix of urban fantasy, military science fiction, and thriller. Thrown in the tidbits of historical flashbacks for flavor and context to explain things as the author builds the world and ding the cake is baked and Tom Doyle creates a start to a fun new world.
The story really holds the listener’s attention with a storyline that is unique in a truly different approach to an urban fantasy/military sci-fi/thriller story themes. In this story, the listener enters the world where the new Special Black Ops Soldiers are ‘Craftsmen’. Dale Morton is a ‘Craftsman’ from an old family and is on a mission gone wrong and cursed by a Persian Sorcerer. He leaves the service in disgrace. Major Michael Endicott, a Puritan craftsman, finds gruesome evidence of what he believes is left hand Morton evil returned to the world. Dale and Endicott play high-level cat and mouse games using craft to evade capture. Dale meets Scherie, a new friend who knows nothing of his magic but who is drawn to him. Dale suspects treason at higher levels in the Pentagon.
American Craftsman Book 1 is by Narrated by Ken Jackson and Terence Aselford. Featuring Ken Jackson as Dale Morton, Michael John Casey as Michael Endicott, Nora Achrati as Scherazade Rezvani. With additional performances by Barbara Pinolini, Lily Beacon, Colleen Delany, Harley Gordon, Richard Rohan, Andy Clemence, Bradley Smith, Nanette Savard, David Jourdan, Mary C. Davis, Lawrence Redmond, Michael Glenn, Kenyatta Rogers, Steven Carpenter, Evan Casey, Scott McCormick, Zeke Alton, Kimberly Gilbert, Danny Gavigan, Rose Elizabeth Supan, Matt Bassett, and Mort Shelby. All the vocal performers gave excellent performance. If you listen to GraphicAudio on a regular basis you will start to pick up on some of the regular vocal talents. It made me smile to recognize some of the voice from other things I have reviewed. The main characters Dale Morton performed by Ken Jackson made for a memorable performance. The main character had to be interesting and well done or the listener would just lose interest. Mr. Jackson gave Dale Morton life and really made the listener invest in the story. Michael John Casey voicing Major Endicott was equally memorable as a smug puritan who was self-righteous. His character came around in the end but was all the more memorable by how he was voiced. Nora Achrati was outstanding in her performance as Scherie Rezvani. Scherie was a woman who knew nothing of the ‘Craft’ but went on this adventure. She voiced her confusion fears and strength as the character grew. The production quality of this audiobook is also the highest quality. I heard no problems during the entire performance. There were not any detectable flaws that I was able to hear during the entire performance such as loops, breaks, or buzzing. The production was crisp and clear. GraphicAudio delivered an excellent audiobook production.
