The Voyage
Clan MacInnes, Book 1
by Aila Skye
Honor and Duty VS the Heart!
The Voyage, Clan MacInnes is a fast-moving story in which Elise is a strong spirited, intelligent woman who finds herself in a male-dominated world of fifth-century Scotland. Clans are fighting one another for control and land. Elise was taught at an early age to be fierce, independent, and strong. Her father promises her to a man she does not love. Although she is very much aware of her duty, it is her heart that is rebelling. Calum Baran is her heart's desire but not necessarily what’s best for her clan or for fulfilling her duty. With an impending war between tribes and a fight for control, Elise must determine the path she will take.
Aila Skye, the author, provides a well written, although brief, romantic adventure. The dialog is well done giving each character their own voice which reveals their dynamics and emotions. The characters and dialog move the story forward at a steady pace. The historical aspect of this first book is informative and accurate.
The narrator, Angus Scott gave a solid and well-done performance. Although the story is brief, Scott adds to the story by providing just the right amount of passion and emotion. His ability to switch between characters and maintain their personality is exceptional. Not all male voice actors are adept at female character voices, but Scott excels and gives a polished performance.
This is a very brief story but one that will keep you intrigued, not wanting it to end.
The audio production and quality of this book were well done with no issues.
