Title!
During WWII in Germany, two P-38 fighter pilots define heroism and action by saving one another from multiple life-threatening disasters. If not for the other, each would have died painful deaths. Then comes the healing process. Trust and romance blossom and grow between the two pilots.
The author Thomas Williard is very knowledgeable about the time period, fighter jets, and guns going into detailed descriptions. The romance built between the two lead characters is well done. I did question whether the Airforce would have encouraged the growth of their relationship but decided it really didn’t matter. It is a well-written book with character depth and true, realistic emotional responses. In the beginning, Williard captures your attention with the life-defying action, then settles into growing the trust between two men facing death and the romance piece of the story.
The narrator, Greg Barnett gives a good performance. He speaks clearly and his cadence is strong and smooth. I have not had the pleasure of hearing Barnett before but look forward to more performances.
There were no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook. The sound was clear and well done.
