Alien Invasion!
As a representative of AudioBookReviewer.com here is a review on Lake of the Moon written by H.E Wilberforce. This tale of aliens invading the United Kingdom in the early 1900s was well written. This book took me back to my younger years of reading HG Wells writings. Therefore, it is easy to say if you enjoy classics like War of the Worlds this book is well worth the read. However, it is not a well-done audiobook thus making it a poor listen.
The book itself is a well written book, however the performance was not done well. Harry Preston was the main narrator and Terry Thompson was the narrator of the prologue and epilogue. Oh, how I wished these two would have switched narration jobs. Preston's performance felt rushed. He was able to give each character their own voice but not consistently. Thompson however, for his short performance was pleasant to listen to and was well paced in his delivery.
Editing, quality, and production was terrible. The presence of music and Foley work in the background was so distracting that it took me twice as long to finish this book. These elements were not even consistent. Some chapters would have music throughout while other chapters had random starts and stops of music. In my opinion there is no place for Foley work in audiobooks. That is strictly for audio dramas. Lastly, the sound quality of the music sometimes overtook the narrator's voice making me lose parts of the story. The music hindered my enjoyment of a well written book.
