Publisher Summaries

INFINITE 1

New York Times bestselling author Jeremy Robinson tackles his most ambitious subject matter to date: reality itself.

The Galahad, a faster-than-light spacecraft, carries fifty scientists and engineers on a mission to prepare Kepler 452b, Earth’s nearest habitable neighbor at 1400 light years away. With Earth no longer habitable and the Mars colony slowly failing, they are humanity’s best hope.

After ten years in a failed cryogenic bed—body asleep, mind awake—William Chanokh’s torture comes to an end as the fog clears, the hatch opens, and his friend and fellow hacker, Tom, greets him…by stabbing a screwdriver into his heart. This is the first time William dies.

It is not the last.

When he wakes from death, William discovers that all but one crew member—Capria Dixon—is either dead at Tom’s hands, or escaped to the surface of Kepler 452b. This dire situation is made worse when Tom attacks again—and is killed. Driven mad by a rare reaction to extended cryo-sleep, Tom hacked the Galahad’s navigation system and locked the ship on a faster-than-light journey through the universe, destination: nowhere. Ever.

Mysteriously immortal, William is taken on a journey with no end, where he encounters solitary desperation, strange and violent lifeforms, a forbidden love, and the nature of reality itself.

INFINITE 2

A bold continuation of Robinson’s bestselling science fiction novel, packed with mystery, action, and mind-bending twists.

William Chanokh is immortal…and he’s trapped on the Galahad, an interstellar starship on a never-ending journey through open space.

His only companions are Capria—mortal and in cryo-sleep—and Gal, an artificial intelligence, and the love of his life, with whom he spends every waking moment in the ‘Great Escape,’ a virtual paradise. After untold years living countless lives, Gal begins acting strange. Possessive. Violent. Paranoid.

Positive that something in the real world is causing her to malfunction, Will attempts to leave the Great Escape, but he finds himself a prisoner. Guided by a voice from reality, he is thrust into a series of torturous narratives, each one designed to break his will and keep him trapped in virtual reality.

Betrayed by his digital love, his long-term memory overwritten, and enduring violent manipulation, Will painfully peels back layers of simulation, fighting to reach reality 1.0—where the nightmares are real.

Maybe.

Reality in Hiding!

On a spaceship headed to the nearest inhabitable planet (only 1400 light-years away), a crew of 50 engineers and scientists sleep cryogenically – well, most of them.  William Chanokh wakes from a light form of cryogenic sleep after 10 years – things, including him, have changed.  He’s no longer mortal but rather immortal and Tom (another colleague/friend) drives that point home with a screwdriver to his neck!  From the first few moments of the audiobook, the action just keeps getting faster and more intense as Chanokh tries to rescue himself and the last remaining woman as they hurtled through space.  Nothing is as it seems and Chanokh is about to discover just how different!

The author, Jeremy Robinson keeps the action moving quickly throughout the book and manages to execute some amazing plot twists!  His dialog is realistic and keeps the story moving at a steady pace.  Robinson does a good job of keeping things straight for the listener, he’s very detailed keeping the listener engaged until the end.

The narrator, R.C. Bray is excellent.  His strong and deep voice resonates throughout the storyline.  His tone inflections, pauses, etc. infuse the story and action with just the right amount of energy.  While there are only 4 characters, each has their own unique voice.  Bray gives a clear, concise performance that moves the story forward at the needed clip.

Never Ending Reality Search!

Infinite is the continuation of William Chanokh who boarded a spaceship called the Galahad and whose trajectory is … nowhere. Unable to die and confused by reality, Chanokh enters “The Great Escape” with his virtual AI named Gal. There he lives many lives and explores many worlds. The other woman who acts as a catalyst in the relationship between Gal and Chanokh is human and is in a deep cryo-sleep. Her name is Capria and she is designated to be Chanokh’s human mate if and when they arrive anywhere.

The adventure continues with Gal experiencing some glitches, Chanokh having memory loss and reality is on vacation! Trying to exit the virtual reality to figure out and fix Gal, Chanokh finds he may never truly be free from the Great Escape. His experience reminds me of being in a coma-like sleep filled with nightmares and never waking up. It’s already daunting to know he will never leave the spaceship but to encounter a vicious and deadly AI whom he loves and knows him too well … as well as other monsters … scary!

The characters are fully developed but with a few twists that give the listener a different perspective. The story is a story within a story within a story – in other words, each life Chanokh lives, the listener makes that trip with him. Each world is detailed and the author’s, Jeremy Robinson, world-building is put to the test as we experience several, each one more twisted than before. Robinson presents the listener with the same feeling the character Chanokh must be experiencing – loss, confusion, and a determination to figure out what is going on.

R.C. Bray, the narrator, again gives an excellent and strong performance. His voice is steady and consistent throughout the book. His subtle hints that people are not who they are with a slightly different sound or emotion is nicely done.
