Destiny can be a Curse!
Ehryn, a young woman gifted with magical abilities is charged with a mission, a journey to decipher what the old gods want and to carry their will out as destiny dictates. Ehryn is accompanied by several village members including the only daughter of the queen, a storyteller, and a Faoii. Together they must take this deadly journey but for anyone to survive, Ehryn must draw upon all her power, faith, and beliefs to remain true to herself and save the world. Life’s tapestry is changing, and that change could be devastating if Ehryn fails in her mission.
Tahani Nelson, the author has created a world unlike any other. Blending myth with her creativity reveals a world where one’s destiny is guided by the tapestry of life and its threads constantly shifting and changing. Nelson’s ability to paint vivid imagery further enhances the story. Each character is well-developed and endearing, including the warrior princess who begins as a spoiled entitled brat. To me, Kont was the character that received the greatest reaction from me. Nelson has a skill that brings the listener deeply into the story connecting characters to the listener. The dialogue was genuine and kept the story moving forward.
The narrator, Sara Morsey, as usual, gives a solid performance that keeps the listener on the edge of their seat. Each character reflected the personality, belief, and strength of each character consistently. Her voice was smooth, and the words flowed evenly.
This book is highly recommended. I had the pleasure of reviewing the previous two books which builds the foundation of the Faoii but this book can be heard as a standalone. Trust me though, this series will have you hooked.
