Esoterrorism

An Unholy Mess - What a Ride!
Derek Hawthorne is an occult policeman, an agent of the super-secret organized called the Red Room. His job is to keep the ordinaries safe from the hidden legions of creatures roaming the world. He is full of doubt, self-loathing, guilt and incredibly good at what he does. As a plus, he’s really, really sarcastic.
The plot is way too complicated to summarize here. There are vampires, werewolves, succubae, dragons, magical weapons, and demons galore. No one is who they seem and loyalties seem to switch right in front of the listener. Monsters are good guys and everyone seems to be plotting to take over the world. It’s an unholy mess with Derek smack in the middle and a heck of a lot of fun.
There are more than a few intriguing characters, Derek’s new partner certainly, but also his reclusive monster uncle. It certainly gets a bit confusing, but somehow manages to wrap itself up in the end. Don’t try to hold onto the plot twists too tightly and just enjoy the ride. You won’t be disappointed.
Jeffrey Kafer performs the novel with great agility, changing voices easily. He’s got his work cut out for him, but never falters, and issues an excellent performance. Derek’s sarcastic self-doubt seems written for Mr. Kafer.
If you like your monsters served with humor and endless political intrigue, you’ll love Esoterrorism. Action-packed fun, sexy demons and an evil ex-wife – what could go wrong? Enjoy the ride.
