Clan MacInnes: Flight of the Sea Eagle
Clan MacInnes, Book 2
by Aila Skye
Delightful Twists!
The saga of the MacInnes Clan takes up where book 1 left off seamlessly. Elise, recognizing her father’s age and disposition takes the leadership role in his army and leads them into battle. Her love for Calum is still growing and she finds herself face to face with the enemy – a dashing handsome and barely clothed man! Having to play the diplomat, Elise must hear the stranger’s tale and make the decision whether he is trustworthy or if it is a trap. Elise must keep her head and heart in balance as she faces this new situation and growing concern in the North.
Aila Skye keeps building the characters and as she adds new ones, they grow in conjunction with the story and other characters nicely. The story moves forward smoothly and with ease. The dialog is realistic and polished. Skye gives her listeners an insider’s view into the thoughts and heart of Elise, not so much yet for Calum – he is still playing his cards close to his tartan!
The narrator, John McNee gives a strong performance and provides a strong female character voice as well as male. I am impressed with McNee as not many voice actors can do this. His performance is even and straightforward. He speaks clearly and with the appropriate accent.
Overall, this is a good series. Although the books are short, they are dramatic and graphically described. Skye delivers yet another effective installment to the MacInnes Saga. This is a very good historical romance series!
