Feature & Follow Friday #1: Fictional Inspiration

Posted March 19, 2015 by Paul (Audiobook Reviewer) in Blog / 26 Comments

email-300x180Happy Friday, fellow book lovers! Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The goal of Feature & Follow is to meet new bloggers, make friends, and gain readers.

This Week’s Question:
Have you ever been inspired by a book character to do something? Who was the character and what was it?

My Answer:
Wow this is a question that I hope makes people really think, now I mean really think. My first thought was “No, of course not”, “It was a whole book”. Then I came to realize that yes there was a single character for an audiobook that inspired me to do something.

It was Grant Matson from The Preparation (299 Days Book 1) by Glen Tate. He went from a kid of the poorest type of family to a successful lawyer to a doomsday prepper. He inspired me to be more prepared for the hard times. I now grow as much of my own food as possible and to preserve it by canning. Definitely not a full blown prepper but totally getting things in order, just in case.

I can’t wait to hear the ways everyone else has been inspired by fictional characters!! This is why we read!

Just for fun the linky is below.

  1. I cosplayed as a character that I narrated as at my local comic-con last weekend. The character was Conor Night from “Dead of Night” by M.R. Forbes. My friends and I made his mask from scratch, and I had my make-up professionally done. To see the mask and the costume, check out my website. There’s pictures of me in the makeup on my Twitter.

  2. That book is new to me. I have my own garden of fruits and vegetables. Thank you for stopping by. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. It’s great that you were inspired to do something so practical. Who knows when such a thing will be needed? At least you’ll know that you’ll be one of the survivors.

    New follower.

  5. Wow, that’s pretty cool! If the end of the world ever came around, I’d probably be screwed because I haven’t prepped at all which is surprising since I read a lot of post apocalyptic books. (;

  6. Oh, I’ll need to check that book out. I keep intending to get better at prepping, especially now that I have more space in my house. Not that I need to be a full-blown doomsday prepper, but I sure could be more prepared for emergencies! Now you’ve inspired me to get inspired….haha!
