A Thrill a Minute!

Rachel Hatch is a former military police and criminal investigator who finds herself neck-deep in a human-trafficking ring being run by the Mexican cartel.  Hatch does “the complicated” well.  She must cross the border unseen, find the missing girl in a country that has no rules, and get them both out of Mexico alive and safe.  In addition, the power of the cartel is unstable because of a struggle within and outside the leadership.  This is a nail-biter!  Lots of intense moments focusing on corruption and violence.

The authors, L. T. Ryan and Brian Shea, weave an intense, nail-biting thriller.  Just when you think you know what is going to happen, things shift usually leaving a bloody swatch.  Ryan and Shea are skillful at putting together a strong storyline, colorful characters, and creating situations that allow for intricate yet clearly executed plot twists.  The dialog was well done and moved the story forward.

The narrator, Marnye Young gives a wonderful performance interjecting the appropriate amount of emotion, physical duress, and excitement to this thriller.  She speaks clearly and keeps the story moving forward.  The specific voices she gave each character reflected their personalities well and helped the listener connect with the story deeper.

Although I have not read the previous books, this one has enough background to not only entice me to read the other five books but gave me a clear picture of Hatch and her life.  Once I started the book, I wanted to listen from beginning to end without stopping.
