VAMPIRE LANDLORD

Landlord Fun!

Vicky moves out of her studio apartment after finding an apartment on Lake Michigan. Low rent cost, do a few chores, run a few errands, give blood …. Lori, Vicky’s best friend, soon discovers what is going on and tries to help but Vicky’s new landlord, Annette has different ideas.

Once again, the author, Glenn Stevens weaves a story based on a small piece of vampire lore. A short story with three main characters and two side characters. Annette, Lori, and Vicky are fairly basic in their character development. However, it is the dialogue that develops them into becoming more engaging characters. The situation that Lori and Vicky find themselves facing is intriguing and unusual. Annette is not only interesting but a person I would not turn my back on! The plot twist is unexpected and tantalizing. Stevens creates a vivid female Bela Lugosi in this story!

The narrator, Ruby Hankey speaks clearly and with enthusiasm. Her tonal inflections are subtle yet further enhance the dialogue allowing each character to develop more deeply. Her delivery and cadence were well-timed and smoothly delivered. I found her enjoyable to hear.

A very short story packed full of action and horror! While it is not your typical vampire story, you should give it a listen!
