THE SONG OF BURR RIDGE

Nostalgic, Haunting, Graphic Imagery!

What might appear to be a collection of random thoughts is much more! Poetic and evocative imagery is painted richly in words. Descriptions of one’s surroundings to feelings of love and longing to words of wisdom.

Pa Kelley, the author, and narrator paints with words the vivid feelings of nostalgic and haunting imagery. Poetic words are not only written with passion but recounted with passion. I found his sigh during Mindless Prattling communicated as much as the words that followed it. The listener knew something mundane was coming up yet Kelley captures not only this but makes it more interesting and graphic. Each thought, each “chapter” is thought-provoking to a degree; something one can usually relate to in some manner.

As the narrator, Pa Kelly speaks in a smooth, conversational manner that entices and invites the listener to keep listening. His rhythm is soothing and realistic. He paces each chapter or verse to match the message he wishes to have delivered. Although authors rarely make good narrators, Pa Kelley delivers!

This audiobook reminds of a collection of “hooks” which are made of graphic images that linger in the mind of the audience. Whether poems or hooks, this book is both interesting and comforting to hear.
