The Devil is in the Title!

Boone Daniels is drawn into a fantastic adventure because of a heartfelt promise he made to a friend and the fact he almost killed that same friend! To deliver on his promise, Boone must travel great lengths and time to capture a cursed melody. He encounters murder, members of secret societies, mythical creatures, vampires, an immortal, and a creature from his past.

The author, J.W. Zarek, has written a truly riveting tale. His writing style is engaging, rich with details, and fully developed characters. Zarek’s writing style is smooth and clean. He is adept at weaving plot twists that are not only well-executed but leave the listener wide-eyed.

The narrator, Curt Bonnem delivers an excellent performance. His unique voice talent portrays each character and their personality to a T. He delivers with confidence and with a smoothness that enhances the story and keeps it moving forward.

The sound quality of the book could have been better. I am not a fan of sound effects as they get in the way of the story, in my opinion. However, when you not only have the sound effects AND the narrator making pretty much the same sounds it becomes annoying. I do not believe this was intentional but in listening to it through Author’s Direct this was an issue. I suspect the soundtrack was added afterward. The music however was splendid and haunting! This part I truly appreciated, and it added to the story as well.

The sound and production quality were fine with the exceptions mentioned previously.
