Retro Style Western Adventure!

At the tender age of 18 and a recent city boy, Jud Low lost his father, and found himself alone in the wild west! He managed to find his way to a small cattle ranch where he learned the trade. Not new to death, his friend is murdered and robbed. Now Jud Low must become the man he is destined to become and grow up.

The author, John Thurmond writes a coming-of-age story set in the wild west. His story flows easily providing a strong background and solid character development. The dialogue is realistic as well. The story reminds me of some great old-time westerns – Bonanza, Gunsmoke, and others.

The narrator, Brooks Corley provides a strong deep voice that resonates throughout the story. He projects the story's emotions including anger, loss, sympathy, and more. His speech is clear and steady. His voice is smooth and soothing to hear. He brings the story come to life!

This is a book that has adventure, suspense, and camaraderie as well as a tinge of the old west. Although I rarely listen to or read a western genre book it was interesting and entertaining. Both the author and narrator enhanced the story to make it engaging for the listener.
