GALLANTRY IN ACTION

by John Spearman

Narrated by: Tyler Krzeszewski

Production by: John J. Spearman

Action, Adventure, and Danger!

The beginning of Gallantry in Action is like Star Trek, Next Generation, and other sci-fi series complete with Hyperspace, battles, new officers that cause some deadly situations, etc. Like all series, the first book is mainly setting up the premise of the series with some action, relationships, and character building. Captain Halberd, Royal Navy of the Interplanetary Commonwealth has a rough start but grows into a strong character that takes the stage.

The author, John Spearman, takes his time building the world, characters, and relationships. His descriptions are rich and consistent. Spearman’s writing is smooth and detailed allowing the listener to understand each world/situation he is building. I have found that some authors rely on their listeners innately understanding most of what is going on and not giving them the full background. The world-building and plot twists are well done and smoothly executed.

The narrator, Tyler Krzeszewski gives a good performance. His performance is smoothly delivered, clearly pronounced, and his cadence is steady. This is my first time listening to Krzeszewski and I hope to hear more.

This is an enjoyable book, with the promise of new battles, conspiracies, and new characters as we move through the series. I am looking forward to the next in the series.

There were no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook. The sound was clear and well done.
