FitzDuncan

Production by: John J. Spearman

No Good Deed Goes Unpunished!

Casimir FitzDuncan is a man handy with a sword and by some people’s standards undesirable because of his birthright.

A young woman contacts FitzDuncan seeking to extradite herself from a marriage contract then mysteriously disappears. At the same time, Freddy (a long-time friend) asks FitzDuncan to help him recover a family heirloom ring he lost gambling. FitzDuncan provides the requested assistance but soon finds himself in the center of an abduction, plans to murder Prince Albert, and more! Both FitzDuncan and Freddy must work together to solve the mysteries together.

The author, John J Spearman, does a thorough job of setting the stage and character development.  He is methodical in his building the story and each character; his execution of each plot twist leaves the listener surprised.  Spearman reflects the proprietary of the time period in regard to romance, chivalry, and societal attitudes.

The narrator, Wolfgang Milliken, adds to the personalities of each character by giving each a unique voice.  His performance is steady and clear.  He communicates the mystery, suspense, romance, and evilness well.

I look forward to reading more by Spearman and hearing more of Milliken!
